1. How I would like the world to be for my children is to not have them face issues with racism or anything that does not treat people unequally. Although we have made some progress as far as treating people more equally, it is not nearly as equal as it needs to be. I would like more face to face interactions again rather than connecting over social media as much as we do today. I hope we as a society can continue opening up one another's minds to understand each other's lives and problems. 2a. You are Here written by Whitney Philips and Ryan M. Milner focuses on the background of the internet. Both writers work for the Visual and Performing Arts for Syracuse University. The central metaphor the authors use for our digital polarization was an ecosystem. The article states that the the type of ecosystem "occurred slowly over a long period of time" (3). Due to the long period time happening, this is caused from the change and the growth within our ecosystem. With my experience, I use my ecosystem, the technology ecosystem I use it to express how I feel. I express the way I feel through liked pictures, comments and videos. However, there are negative points within all of this, to which I hope gets cut down. 2b. The invitation was to "run towards the storm" (12). The storm of information that is out in the world and we will soon know. The information that is out in this world will help be better understand our society and have a different mindset. I will be more open minded with everything moving forward. 4. I decided to read the Why I Wear a Mask article by Richard Peltier. The reason I decided to read this article is because it is relevant to what we are going through today. Masks are so hard for our society to continue doing because we have been going through this for almost two years now. As much as it is tiring to still do, we must do it to protect the ones we care about the most. Yes there are many people who are vaccinated, but it does not mean we are past this virus. We as a society need to be in this together and stay strong.
